Where can I get historical option chain data?

Historical option chain data is the record of every strike's price, open interest, OI change and volume for past sessions. NSE publishes it free as end-of-day files; intraday snapshots, which show how the chain changed minute by minute, come from data vendors or from replay tools such as the AOC Back Tester.

Can I download historical option chain data from NSE?

Yes, at end-of-day level. NSE's derivatives bhavcopy in the reports archive lists every option contract for each trading day with its open, high, low, close, settlement price, OI and change in OI. It is free and goes back years. What it does not have is the intraday picture: you see where OI ended, not where it was at 11:00 when support shifted.

Where can I get intraday historical option chain data?

Your options are paid tick or minute data from authorised vendors, which comes as large files you have to process yourself, or a tool that stores option chain snapshots through the day and lets you replay them. AOC does the second: its Back Tester loads the full chain for any past expiry, date and time, with the same highlights, PCR and support and resistance you see live.

Is historical option chain data free in AOC?

Past sessions in the Back Tester are free with a login. On weekdays during market hours, roughly 08:30 to 16:30 IST, the last 8 hours are AOC Pro only, so today's live session opens up for free accounts after the window ends. CRUDEOIL and NATURALGAS replays need AOC Pro at any time.

What can you do with historical option chain data?

Check whether a rule you trade by actually held. For example: on expiry days, did NIFTY respect the strike with the highest put OI at 10:00? Step through a few dozen sessions and you will know, instead of remembering the two times it worked. You can also compare the same time across days with a 1-day step and see how OI at a strike built up.
